ELECTION WORKERS NEEDED!
Tri-Valley School is still in need of workers for our bond election on Tuesday, August 17, 2021. Anyone who is willing to help us out with this, please contact Brian Andersen in the Business Office. Training will be provided. Our polling places are Taopi Community Hall in Colton, Crooks Community Center in Crooks, and Westside Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls.

The agenda for Monday's (June 14th) board meeting has been posted on the Tri-Valley website. https://www.tri-valley.k12.sd.us/browse/156880 I want to especially point out agenda item number 7; which is whether or not to put the Task Force recommendation to a bond referendum (vote). If the resolution is passed by the school board, the bond vote will be held on Tuesday, August 17th.
Tri-Valley School District Stakeholder:
As tomorrow, May 13th, 2021, concludes the 2020-2021 school year, we would like to take a quick moment to reflect on this past year.
On Friday, March 13th, 2020, Governor Kristi Noem ordered schools to close for the next calendar week. Eventually, the order was extended for the duration of the 2019-2020 school year. Tri-Valley’s staff rose to the occasion and delivered meaningful education to our children in a vastly different manner. Hundreds of student meals were delivered to homes each week during this time as well.
Throughout the summer, teachers planned a “new normal” for the 2020-2021 school year. This was a difficult task, as no one knew for certain if students would be able to learn in the building or if we would be asked to close again. Our staff knew one thing for certain – we needed to be in front of students. Tri-Valley staff planned every logistical minute of the student day in addition to the yearly curriculum. All this planning was not done by teachers alone. They needed the assistance of many individuals who arrive at school every day with a smile on their faces. Our school staff is nothing short of amazing. Our kitchen staff served breakfast in hallways and lunch in classrooms. It has been a privilege to see them greet students with a friendly smile right away in the morning. Our custodial staff has continuously cleaned while still meeting every request made to assist in setting up rooms for students. Each day, over 1,000 staff and students are in the building, which creates some wear-and-tear, and our custodians do a marvelous job at maintaining the school. Tri-Valley’s administrative assistants are second-to-none. Their knowledge and expertise make the school run smoothly each day. They make sure everything is covered and we would be very lost without them. When students arrive at school, they are typically greeted by one of our educational assistants. This year, our educational assistants have taken on many additional tasks – temperature checking, compiling work for online students, and additional supervision duties as we have tried to spread our students out as much as possible. On Fridays, they have stepped up wherever needed to make sure the following week is another great experience for students. Each day begins and ends with a bus ride for approximately 800 students in our district. Our bus drivers have taken everything in stride, from changing the start and end times of the day, asking students to be masked, and using seating charts on the busses. They are also there each time we need to travel for activities. (And of course the parents, who when called upon came out in the masses to transport their children to and from school to alleviate seating capacity on our school bus routes.)
Tri-Valley staff continues to meet all the extra expectations brought on by COVID-19. This adversity has not diminished their passion and dedication for helping students.

The 7th-12th Grade choir students will be performing TONIGHT for their annual Pops Concert. This concert will take place in the MS Gym/Stage at 6:30pm. Come out and watch these Mustangs showcase their talents!

Tri-Valley High School students took part in a Multicultural Celebration today! Students from each advisory presented on a specific country/culture. The entire student body then rotated through all 16 presentations through out the day. Thank you to all presenter and students for making it successful celebration!

Tri-Valley will be having a special school board meeting on Friday, April 30th. The purpose of the meeting is for employee negotiations and a legal matter. The meeting will primarily be executive session and no action items are on the agenda. The agenda can be viewed on the Tri-Valley website.

1. If you didn't see the Wizard of Oz production last night, it is a must see tonight at 7:00pm! The students did an outstanding job last night and it was a pleasure to see them showcase their talents.
2. Mrs. Burroughs brought her wheel class into the community this afternoon to pick up garbage. Check out the story this evening/tonight on Keloland News - not sure of exact broadcast time. Great job students and Mrs. Burroughs!
3. The high school track team is competing today and tomorrow (finally!) and enjoying the nicer weather. Wish them luck as they begin to compete for entry into the state track meet in Spearfish on Memorial Day weekend.
